Dr. Mukhtar Khamis Haba is a highly experienced biologist with a PhD in Biology since 2005. He currently serves as the CEO of the Iraqi Green Climate Organization, an NGO dedicated to climate change and biodiversity preservation. Dr. Haba is actively involved in various projects and committees related to environmental conservation and climate change adaptation. Notably, he works as a National Consultant for the Iraq National Adaptation Plan, in collaboration with UNEP and the Iraqi Ministry of Health and Environment. He is also a National Consultant for the GEF 7 project in Iraq, focusing on biodiversity conservation and land degradation neutrality. Dr. Haba's extensive contributions to climate initiatives include his participation in the national committee of Climate Change and work on Iraq's Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC) for COP21. He has represented Iraq at UNFCCC COP21 in Paris and COP23 in Bonn. Furthermore, he has authored several publications related to biology, biodiversity, and climate change. Dr. Haba's long-standing dedication to environmental studies and expertise in the field make him a valuable asset to Iraq's conservation efforts.

Dr. Omar Al-Sheikhly

Dr. O. F. Al-Sheikhly is a prominent biologist, ecologist, and conservationist in Iraq. His academic journey began with a Bachelor's degree in Biological Science from the University of Baghdad, progressing to an M.Sc. in Animal Ecology, and currently a Ph.D. focused on Birds of Prey Ecology. Dr. Al-Sheikhly has dedicated years to the Department of Biology at the University of Baghdad, where he serves as a Researcher and Teacher. He actively participates in ecological and conservation initiatives, notably representing Iraq within the IUCN Species Survival Commission SSC (Otter Specialists Group) and functioning as the International Coordinator for the Middle East with the International Otter Survival Fund. His diverse career also includes roles as a technical director for the Iraqi Green Climate Organization and as a consultant, project manager, and wildlife expert on various conservation projects. Recognized with the Erick Hosking Award of Wildlife Photography in 2007, Dr. Al-Sheikhly has an extensive publication record, covering wildlife and conservation topics, often focusing on specific species. His skills extend to wildlife fine art, digital media, and proficiency in software like Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop. Dr. O. F. Al-Sheikhly's career showcases his steadfast dedication to wildlife preservation and scientific exploration, particularly in Iraq's challenging ecological context.

Mr. Mahdi Laith

Media and Public Relations Manager

Mahdi laith is an Iraqi environmental activist with a profound interest in biodiversity and wildlife. Recently, his focus has pivoted towards climate change and environmental concerns. his formal journey as an activist commenced in 2018 upon joining the Iraqi Green Climate Organization (IGCO). The organization's inaugural major event was the organization of the World Wildlife Day festival in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, which garnered significant attention from the public and media alike. Following this, he accompanied the IGCO's experts in hosting the French senators on a fact-finding mission to the Iraqi marshlands. He also played a role in the production of the globally-recognized documentary "The Marshes of Iraq: Gardens of Thirst." Throughout the year 2018, he was instrumental in organizing various festivals and workshops. his influence in Iraqi society was acknowledged when he was recognized by the European Union, the British Council, UNICEF Iraq, and the Red Cross.
